Mississippi sports betting revenue falls in February

Sports wagering revenue in Mississippi amounted to $2.1m, representing both a year-on-year and month-on-month decline for the state’s market.

Sports wagering revenue in Mississippi amounted to $2.1m (£1.8m/€1.9m), representing both a year-on-year and month-on-month decline for the state’s market.

Revenue was down by 25.0% from $2.8m in February of 2019, while the monthly total was also 54.4% lower than the $4.6m recorded in January this year.

Figures from the Mississippi Gaming Commission revealed a 37.5% year-on-year increase in the state’s handle to $34.5m, but this was down 23.7% from $45.2m in January 2020.

Costal casinos remained the main source of sports betting income in Mississippi, with revenue in February amounting to $955,302, down 31.5% from last year, despite consumer spending rising 54.1% to $22.5m.
