Sports wagering revenue in New York amounted to $780,418 (£600,894/€702,029) in December, the lowest monthly figure since the state launched its legal market last July.
The figure represented a 40.0% drop on the $1.3m generated in November, which was previously the worst performing month since the roll out of legal sports betting in the state.
December’s result was also well short of the $2.3m monthly record that was set in September. Since the launch of legal wagering in July 2019, New York’s four licensed sportsbooks generated a total of $6.8m in revenue.
The del Lago Resort and Casino in Waterloo, which has a DraftKings sportsbook, was the market leader in December, posting $335,283 in total revenue. This represented a 45.7% improvement on the $230,092 generated in November, and saw the casino jump from fourth place to pole position.
