NYX Gaming Group has revealed that it handled a record 227.16 million account transactions via its OpenBet platform during this year’s Cheltenham Festival UK horse-racing event.

The 2017 Festival was OpenBet's most successful ever after it handled more than 35.64 million sports bets, 13% more than last year.

Mobile was responsible for 76% of all bets placed at the event, while the number of sports bets per minute placed through OpenBet peaked at 37,000, up 36% on the 2015 Festival.

Matt Davey, chief executive of NYX, said: “With an extraordinary number of transactions to handle, it is one of the most critical weeks in the calendar, with no room for downtime.

“The mobile statistics underline the ongoing shift in player behaviour, and the benefits of our commitment to a product-led strategy in delivering technology that supports player needs and delivers the performance OpenBet is known for.”
