The scheme invites local sports clubs to apply for funds up to a maximum grant of £1,000, though this was increased to £5,000 for 2020 due to clubs facing more financial hardship due to novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

In total, 120 clubs received grants ranging from £500 to £5,000, with funds to be put towards a range of initiatives such as purchasing new equipment, improving club facilities and investing in qualified coaching.

More than £515,000 in funding has been handed out to sports clubs and schemes since the initiative launched in 2008.

“Local sports clubs play a critical role across the UK and Ireland; they promote good health and wellbeing and act as a focal point for communities to gather around and support one another,” Flutter’s group head of CSR Sue Hammett said.

“In 2020, at a time when this role has been even more vital, many have suffered financially. We are proud to contribute to grassroots sports through Cash4Clubs and to help sustain these clubs well into the future.”
