Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has agreed a deal to provide a full online turnkey solution to Argentinean gaming and entertainment operator Grupo Slots for the launch of igaming in Buenos Aires.

The solution will include a technical igaming platform, sportsbook and front-end development, as well as GiG’s data platform and GiG Logic operating system.

The agreement will run for at least four years, with an automatic extension for one additional year, and is based on a revenue share model with set-up fees. GiG said it expects to finalise the agreement before the end of the third quarter.

Headquartered in San Luis, Grupo Slots runs casinos, gambling and bingo halls at more than 20 land-based sites across Argentina. The group also has an igaming presence in the form of its Jugadon.com website.

“We see a great potential in the regulated environments within Argentina as that market is in the early transformation from offline to online gambling,” GIG chief executive Richard Brown said.

“To partner with one of the largest and premier land based operators in the market is great opportunity to showcase our product in the Latin American market while delivering the platform for online gambling transformation for Grupo Slots.”

Grupo Slots general manager Juan Ignacio Torres added: “We are extremely pleased to have reached this agreement with a company like GIG, an international company with extensive experience, which demonstrates a high level of seriousness and excellence in the field of online gaming.

“We also contribute 35 years’ of experience, innovation, infrastructure and knowledge of the Argentine gambling market, currently being one of the few operators with online gaming presence. This deal complements us and gives us a tool of quality and excellence to continue growing in this market with so much future potential.”

Argentina is in the process of regulating online gambling on a province-by-province basis. Earlier this year, the city of Buenos Aires approved regulations to set criteria for igaming licensees, with a view to launching in the fourth quarter of 2020.

According to GiG, it is expected that Grupo Slots will secure a licence for Buenos Aires before the end of Q4, after which GiG will roll out its igaming solution with the operator.

As such, GiG said it expects a positive contribution from Grupo Slots from 2021 onwards.
