Bet365 is set to return to the Bulgarian gambling market after being granted an online sports betting licence by the country’s State Commission on Gambling (SCG).

The operator was one of the first companies to be place on the Bulgaria’s online gambling blacklist as the country pushed for heavier regulation, but was granted a licence last year.

However, the licence was soon after withdrawn, with neither Bet365 nor the SCG disclosing the reason behind this decision.

Bet365 took the SCG to court and the Sofia Administrative Court ruled in favour of the operator, with the regulator complying and issuing a new licence.

A total of 10 operators now hold licences in the country, including Betfair and PokerStars.
