With its Malta licence in place, SportsBetting.com aims to expand into new markets such as the Canadian province of Ontario, and other European jurisdictions.

Ontario’s government announced last week it would introduce new legislation to end the current online gambling monopoly held in the province by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, opening up the market to private operators.

“Receiving our license from the MGA is a major achievement for our company and a catalyst for our future goals,” Carousel Group chief executive Daniel Graetzer said.

“After two years of product development and building our team of more than 100 employees, SportsBetting.com is now live in the U.S. and we could not be more excited to compete.”

“We have built a proprietary and hyper-personalized sportsbook that gives bettors the content they want, timely betting information and market-leading pricing and limits.”

SportsBetting.com launched in Colorado in September this year, through a partnership with Johnny Nolon’s Casino in Cripple Creek. Legal sports wagering launched in the state on 1 May, with an initial four operators going live.

The decision to legalise sports betting was made through a statewide referendum held in November 2019.

Carousel’s MGA licence assists the company’s plans to expand as broadly as possible and maximise its market impact since launching its SportsBetting.com and Racebook.com brands in 2019.
