The English Football Association has filed charges against Martin Demichelis, who plays for English Premier League club Manchester City, over a number of alleged betting offences.
The 35-year-old Argentine has been accused of committing 12 breaches relating to matches from January 22-28 of this year.
Although further details of the charges were not disclosed, it was confirmed that Demichelis has until April 5 to respond.
There has also been no suggestion that the games in question relate to any of the matches he has featured in for City in the 2015-16 season.
Rules introduced before the 2014-15 season state players and coaches are not allowed to bet on any football activities around the world.
