MGA issues €2.3m penalty to Blackrock media
Blackrock Media has paid a €2.3m (£2.0m/$2.6m) financial penalty to the Malta Gaming Authority for operating a gaming service without the necessary authorisation.
The penalty was applied after joint investigations by the Malta Gaming Authority and the Executive Police found the company was processing payments for an unlicensed gaming operations.
Blackrock Media is a subsidiary of Blackrock Entertainment, a Netherlands-based company which holds a Curaçao licence. Under this licence, it operates a Wild Sultan-branded online casino.
The MGA said that the total penalty payment was determined by a settlement between themselves and Blackrock Media.
In December, the MGA revealed that it suspended 11 licences and cancelled another seven between January and June 2019. The MGA issued eight administrative fines in this period.
