Russian lottery operator Stoloto has become the second company to launch a licensed sports betting service in the country.

The new 888.ru platform, which does not have any links with 888 Holdings, will operate on a Betconstruct platform through a Russian licence that was originally awarded to domestic bookmaker 23Bet.

Stoloto, the only authorised internet lottery provider in Russia, first announced news of the planned launch earlier this month, but stopped short of confirming a launch date.

888.ru customers will be offered markets on events in football, tennis, basketball, American football, badminton, rugby union and rugby league.

Russia-based operator Liga Stavok is the only other company to hold an online sports betting licence in the country.
