SkyCity temporarily closes Hamilton casino in latest NZ lockdowns

| By Marese O'Hagan
SkyCity has announced the temporary closure of its Hamilton casino after a level 3 novel coronavirus (Covid-19) alert was issued by the New Zealand government on October 3.

The alert was issued for parts of the Waikato region, which includes the Hamilton CBD, after two new cases of Covid-19 were detected.

It took effect at 11:59pm on October 3 and will last for five days.

SkyCity’s Auckland casino (pictured) will remain closed, as Auckland remains at alert level 3.

Meanwhile, its Queenstown property is currently open in line with the alert level 2 issued in the area.

In August, SkyCity announced the temporary closures of its Hamilton, Auckland and Queensland venues in line with Covid-19 measures at the time.

Also in August, SkyCity recorded a 17.6% decrease in revenue for its 2020-2021 financial year.`
