The owner of gaming website Smart Live Gaming has had its licences suspended by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC).

The regulator said that it is undertaking a review of parent company Smart TV Broadcasting Limited, under section 116 of the UK Gambling Act.

UKGC said that it believes Smart TV Broadcasting is at present “unsuitable to carry on licensed activities and considers it appropriate to suspend the licenses with immediate effect pending the conclusion of the review”.

The Commission said the company must settle any outstanding customer balances on its related products. Smart TV Broadcasting’s subsidiaries are able to continue operating at present as it is also licensed in Malta.

A UKGC spokesperson said: “We are aware that there are currently customers who have outstanding balances in their accounts with the operator. Regrettably, at this point we have no further information on the position of customer funds.”
