Yahoo has become the latest company to secure approval to launch a daily fantasy sports (DFS) service in the UK.

The multinational technology company, which already offers DFS in both the US and Canada, was granted a licence by the UK Gambling Commission national regulatory body last week.

Although Yahoo is yet to officially announce its plans for the UK market, the firm confirmed the news to Legal Sports Report, while details of the new licence can also be seen on the Gambling Commission website.

Contests currently available to players in the US and Canada will also be open to customers in the UK, while Yahoo will localise currency for UK users.

The approval comes after daily fantasy football website, Mondogoal, which was once a partner of Yahoo, recently shut down its consumer-facing product.
