Australian gambling operator Tabcorp has joined forces with Scientific Games on a new project to strengthen its keno offering in land-based venues across the country.

Under the agreement, Scientific Games has supplied 750 of its advanced WAVE retail terminals for Tabcorp to install at pubs and clubs throughout Australia.

To date, Scientific Games has deployed nearly 80,000 WAVE terminals in retail locations worldwide. The machines feature advanced ergonomics and are available in various sizes.

“We appreciate Scientific Games’ global gaming expertise, as well as their technology innovation and commitment to responsible gaming,” Tabcorp’s general manage for keno, Terry Fowler, said. “Our keno players will enjoy a more modern experience with the new WAVE terminals.”

Michael Conforti, president of global strategic accounts for Scientific Games, added: “With the upgrade to these advanced retail terminals for Keno players, Tabcorp is again demonstrating their commitment to enhancing the player experience.”

Tabcorp singled out its lotteries and keno arm for praise in its recent financial results announcement. This area of the business enjoyed an 18.1% year-on-year increase in revenue to AUS$.41bn (£774m/€889.9m/U$1.01bn) on a pro-rata basis during the six months to December 31, 2018.

However, revenue from the Tabcorp wagering and media division fell 3.8% to AUS$1.22bn, while gaming services revenue also declined 4.0% to AUS$155.8m, both on a pro-forma basis.

Group revenue was up from AUS$1.34bn to AUS$2.79bn, with Tabcorp boosted by its merger with Tatts Group. On a pro-forma basis – assuming Tatts was part of the Tabcorp business for the entirety of 2017 – group revenue was up 6.1%.
