Betano scores first sponsorship deal outside Europe with Atlético Mineiro
The agreement will run for at least the 2021 season, with Betano branding to feature on the front of players’ shirts.
The deal represents Betano’s first commercial partnership with a sports team in Brazil, and outside Europe, though the operator does have deals in place with other clubs around the world
Betano is currently partnered with Portuguese football teams SC Braga and CS Marítimo, as well as PAOK and Olympiacos in Greece, Apollon Limassol and Pafos in Cyprus, and Universitatea Craiova and FSCB in Romania.
“We look forward to working with the team and delivering successful sponsorship, as well as finding ways to improve our social responsibility plan in Brazil,” Betano’s chief marketing officer Panos Konstantopoulos said.
Operated by Kaizen Investment, Betano is active in Brazil, Portugal, Germany, Romania, Greece and Cyprus. Sazka-owned OPAP holds a 36.75% stake in Kaizen’s business.
In November, OPAP acquired an additional 15.48% stake in Stoiximan Group’s Greek and Cyrpriot operations (SMGC) from owner Kaizen, bringing its stake in this part of the business to 84.48%.
