Betfred has moved to extend its support of rugby league in England by becoming the new title sponsor of the Championship and League 1 club competitions.

The bookmaker already serves as title sponsor of the top-tier Super League and will now extend its arrangement with the Rugby Football League (RFL) to also cover the second and third tiers until 2019.

Betfred will now receive branding exposure on in-stadium perimeter signage at all Championship and League 1 matches.

In addition, Betfred will support the annual ‘Summer Bash’ event that features a series of key Championship matches across a single weekend.

“Betfred’s first year involved in the Super League was an unquestionable success and I’m certain that they will bring the passion and enthusiasm to their extended sponsorship,” RFL chief executive Ralph Rimmer said.

Betfred boss Fred Done, added: “Our first year as title sponsors of Super League was both a very successful and satisfying one for me and I had no hesitation in agreeing to extend our sponsorship to the Championship and League 1.”

Betfred’s sponsorship of the Super League is also due to run to the end of 2019, under a deal signed in October 2016.
