Bwin has agreed a deal to become title sponsor of the Professional Darts Corporation’s (PDC) Grand Slam of Darts.

The agreement will run for two years, covering the 2017 and 2018 events.

The annual tournament, which takes place in the English city of Wolverhampton, will now be known as the Bwin Grand Slam of Darts.

Introduced in 2007, the event features 32 players from the PDC and British Darts Organisation systems, competing in a round-robin group phase, followed by a knockout stage.

This year’s contest, which runs from November 11-19, will have a total prize pot of £450,000 (€516,900/$549,800), with the eventual champion to take home £110,000.

“Darts is enjoying a huge boom and it's great for us to link up once again with the PDC to sponsor this prestigious tournament,” Bwin chief marketing officer Adam Lewis said.

PDC chairman Barry Hearn added: “It's great to welcome Bwin as the new title sponsor for the Grand Slam of Dart; their previous sponsorship of the World Cup of Darts came at a time of huge growth for that event in Germany in 2014 and 2015.”

The agreement comes after Bwin recently also secured sponsorship deals with Spanish LaLiga football clubs Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, Valencia and Villarreal.
