Coral signs up to sponsor snooker’s English Open
Coral has agreed to become the title sponsor of this year’s English Open snooker world ranking event.
The contest, which is due to run from October 10-16 at Event City in Manchester, England, will now be known as the Coral English Open.
A total of 128 players, including Ronnie O’Sullivan and Mark Selby, will compete for a top prize of £70,000 (€79,400/$89,100).
The English Open forms part of World Snooker’s Home Nations series, which will also feature events in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Coral has a long history of sponsoring professional snooker events and this year also supported the ‘Shoot-Out’ tournament, which took place at The Hexagon in Reading, England, from February 12-14.
Simon Clare, PR director at Coral, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be title sponsors of the inaugural English Open, adding to our portfolio of World Snooker sponsorships.
“We have already sponsored the UK Championship in the past, we currently sponsor the exciting Shoot Out and this latest tournament is a perfect fit to our expanding portfolio, showing our continued commitment to the sport.”
