The International Tennis Federation (ITF), the sport’s global governing body, has ended its partnership with Betway after introducing a new policy that bars deals with gambling companies.

In November 2015, Betway signed up to become an international sponsor of the Davis Cup and Fed Cup, the ITF’s flagship men’s and women’s national team contests, respectively.

The three-year deal was to end in 2018, but the ITF now says the agreement will conclude with immediate effect.

An ITF spokesman told CNN that the organisation had “ceased its relationships with betting partners from 2017”, adding that the move to end the Betway deal is “part of a policy decision to cease having betting sponsors”.
