Ladbrokes has agreed deals to serve as title sponsor for the 2016 World Grand Prix and Players Championship snooker tournaments.

Under the agreements, this year’s editions of the competitions will be known as the Ladbrokes World Grand Prix and Ladbrokes Players Championship.

Organised by World Snooker, the World Grand Prix will take place in Llandudno, Wales, from March 8-13, with the Players Championship scheduled to run in Manchester from March 22-27.

“We're bolstering our sponsorship portfolio all the time and the addition of two popular snooker tournaments will serve us well,” Ladbrokes’ chief marketing officer, Kristof Fahy, said.

“We are building our brand in a sport which has proven in-play betting appeal; sponsorship at Ladbrokes is much more than sticking ribbons on a trophy and we're looking forward to working with World Snooker to raise the profile of these events even further.”

Barry Hearn, chairman of World Snooker, added: “We’re delighted to bring in Ladbrokes as title sponsor for both of these world ranking events; they are a fantastic team and we look forward to working with them.”

Confirmation of the deals comes after Ladbrokes ended its title sponsorship of the World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival UK annual horseracing event, as it is not an authorised betting partner of the British Horseracing Authority.
