William Hill has announced that Mark Brooker is to become the new chair of its Corporate Responsibility Committee.

Brooker will move into the role on November 16, upon the departure of Ashley Highfield from the bookmaker’s board.

Hills announced at the start of August that it had begun a process to appoint a new chair for the Committee.

The bookmaker made the revelation at the same time as announcing its financial results for the opening six months of the current year in a trading update.

During the first half, Hills generated £837m (€934.5m/$1.1bn) in revenue, which is up 3% on the corresponding period on 2016.

Other key results from the trading update included a 1% year-on-year decline in adjusted operating profit, as well as 7% drop in profit before tax.
