Carpenter takes special counsel role at Genius Sports
Genius Sports has appointed renowned sports lawyer Kevin Carpenter to the position of special counsel.
Carpenter will join later this month and support the firm in its ongoing work to protect leagues and federations around the world from threats of match-fixing and betting-related corruption.
Genius Sports provides sports integrity partners with tailored educational programs, including workshops and e-learning modules to provide players, coaches and other key stakeholders with the ability to recognise and report match-fixing or betting-related corruption activities.
Carpenter will lead the delivery of these educational and consultancy services to sports, as well as work with leagues and federations in an advisory capacity, to ensure they have the necessary regulations, processes and sanctions in place to protect their integrity.
“Genius Sports has rapidly established itself as a true leader in sports integrity, not only in the protection against match-fixing and betting-related corruption, but also in their commitment to forming official, long-term partnerships that enable sports to enhance their operational efficiency, better engage with fans and maximise their commercial potential,” Carpenter said.
Steven Burton, managing director at Genius Sports, added: “Protecting the integrity of sports is at the heart of what we do and this is only possible by providing our partners with true expertise.
“Kevin’s track record and reputation throughout the industry spoke for itself.”
