Ex-politician Bernardo named strategic advisor to SKS365

Planetwin365 operator SKS365 has named Maurizio Bernardo as the company’s new senior strategic advisor for its core Italian market.

Bernardo will assist the company in developing its compliance strategies, as well as managing stakeholder relationships.

He takes on the role after a career in politics that included a position as president of the Finance Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of the Italian legislature.

After more than a decade in local politics, Bernardo was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 2006 as a member of the centre-right Forza Italia party. He was reelected twice as a member of Popolo della Libertà (People for Freedom), another centre-right party, before failing be returned to parliament as a member of the social democratic Partito Democratico (Democratic Party) in the 2018 Italian elections.

“Maurizio Bernardo is an important asset for the Group,” SKS365 general counsel Bepi Pezzulli said. “He will be pivotal in adding strategic competence to the company whom is currently engaged in massive investments on compliance programs and governance systems.

In addition to his role as strategic consultant, Bernardo will also play a key role in developing SKS365's corporate social responsibility strategy.

“Maurizio strengthens our commitment to Italy, one where sports betting is part of the culture and the social landscape,” SK365’s Italian country manager Francesco Gaziano added. “Giving central importance to the Italian market also means creating new employment, as well as ensuring relevant tax revenues for the country's economy.”
