Former Stars CEO Ashkenazi steps down from Flutter board
Rafi Ashkenazi, former chief executive of The Stars Group, has stepped down as a non-executive of Flutter Entertainment, effective today (27 August).
Ashkenazi has worked for the PokerStars operator, then known as Amaya Gaming Group, since 2013, becoming its chief executive in March 2016.
Under his leadership, the business acquired Sky Betting and Gaming in July 2018, then agreed its mega-merger with Flutter Entertainment in 2019, which completed in May this year.
That deal’s completion saw Ashkenazi step down as chief executive, and was originally set to become a consultant to Flutter CEO Peter Jackson. However he stepped back from this role, though initially remained on the board.
In July, he was named a strategic advisor of B2B marketing platform provider BlueRibbon Software.
“I wish to take this opportunity to acknowledge the major contribution of Rafi in creating the exceptional business that is TSG,” Flutter chair Gary McGann said.
“Rafi has made a significant impact on TSG during his seven-year tenure and was instrumental in transforming TSG from a single product operator to a diverse global leader with multiple product offerings. We wish him well for the future.”
