Kindred seeks out tech talent with new Madrid hub

Madrid team will work on company’s global projects

Kindred Group has opened a new technology hub in the Spanish capital city of Madrid in a move designed to attract “great talent” to the company.

The facility will complement Kindred’s network of other tech hubs, supporting the company’s global projects, rather than focusing on the Spanish market.

Speaking to iGamingBusiness.com about the new hub, Alexander Westrell, group head of communications at Kindred, said that the Madrid base will be a useful location for attracting tech specialists.

“The main reason for starting to put a team on the ground in Madrid is because competition for talent in the tech industry is tough,” Westrell said.

“Spain, and Madrid in particular, was selected after doing a thorough study of potential new locations in Europe and Southeast Asia, based on the potential to find great talent.

“Kindred has a long history of very successful multi-cultural recruiting and relocation, and this is now an additional way of growing.

“Also, as we are very good at virtual team cooperation and making the most of a digital workplace. We are not necessarily bound to certain locations.”

Westrell added: “It’s also a complement to our existing tech hubs as a way to grow.”

Confirmation of the new Madrid hub comes after Kindred this week put forward an application for a licence in Sweden, as it seeks to build on success in its home country.

The owner of Unibet and 32Red is one of 27 companies that have now applied to launch in Sweden when regulation is reintroduced in January 2019.

Kindred also recently posted an impressive set of figures for the second quarter, during which revenue hiked 31% year-on-year to £219m (€245m/$278m). The company put the sharp increase down to increased betting activity around the World Cup.
