Grupo Codere taps González as director of tech and digitalisation

| By Zak Thomas-Akoo
Grupo Codere has announced that tech specialist Agustín González will lead its digitalisation strategy as its new director of technology and digitalisation.
Codere Group

González has over two decades of experience in the digital transformation, technology and security spheres. In his new role, he will report directly to Codere CEO Gonzaga Higuero.

Previously, González served as chief information officer of media conglomerate Atresmedia Group. This was on top of his previous CIO experience at security business Movistar Prosegur Alarmas.

Codere described González’s appointment as a “key” step in the company’s strategic evolution.

In his new role, González will focus on the development of the company’s tech strategy, as well as finding areas where tech can help improve processes.

Additionally, he is charged with enforcing Codere’s cybersecurity efforts. In this capacity, he will work to protect the confidential data and defend against cyber threats.

González was awarded a graduate degree in Business Administration and Telecommunications Management from the University of Dallas. He also holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from ICADE.

Shake-up of Codere senior management team

González is the latest senior management hire for the Spanish gambling group. In July, Codere announced a raft of new leadership for the business.

This included the appointment of Higuero as chief executive after a four-and-a-half year stint as CEO of the Health Transportation Group.

Luis Villalb also joined the business as chief financial officer, while Sonia Carabante assumed a new senior commercial position as corporate director of commercial strategy and business projects.
