Industry investor HappyHour.io has appointed Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) co-founder Ben Clemes as investment portfolio partner.

In his new role, Clemes will focus on accelerating the growth of current investments and also oversee the expansion of the group’s portfolio of start-ups.

Clemes joins the investor from GiG, the business that he co-founded more than 10 years ago with Robin Reed, who is now managing partner at HappyHour.io.

He was most recently general manager for North America at GiG, having previously spent time in other key roles such as chief business development officer and chief commercial officer.

Prior to launching GiG, Clemes served as head of casino operations at Nordic Gaming Group for over two and a half years.

“It’s a privilege to be working alongside such inspirational thought leaders and pioneers in the igaming industry while supporting the brilliant minds of teams and individuals that are changing the way the industry is evolving,” Clemes said.

“I’m excited to jump in and support these future giants of igaming with my years of diverse experience and finding more companies of tomorrow to support and grow.”

Reed added: “Working with Ben again is immensely gratifying, given his remarkable track record of growing start-ups into robust and prosperous businesses.

“With his vast experience and deep understanding of the industry, coupled with his visionary outlook, Ben is the ideal custodian for our current investments and future portfolio companies.

“His addition to the HappyHour.io team is warmly welcomed.”

The appointment comes after HappyHour.io last month also named Patrick Jonker as chief executive of its Blixx Gaming online casino business.

Jonker will oversee ongoing expansion plans to launch Blixx in new markets, as well as efforts to improve customer experience and commercial operations.
