Endeavor-owned OpenBet has announced the appointment of Sam Depoortere as its new vice-president of platform products.

An experienced industry executive, Depoortere will be responsible for driving the provider’s platform solutions product strategy. He is reporting directly to OpenBet chief product officer Nikos Konstakis.

Prior to this, Depoortere worked as country executive for Belgium at Betway and marketing manager at Media Odds.

Earlier in his career, Depoortere was a content manager at Gtech, now part of IGT.

“I am thrilled to be steppping into this role at OpenBet, an industry leader known for its innovation and strong partnerships,” Depoortere says.

“Leveraging my experience and insights from the operator side, I am committed to steering OpenBet’s platform products to new heights.”

CPO Konstakis added: “With Sam joining the ranks, we are poised for even greater success. His in-depth understanding of best practices and unparalleled industry experience makes him a valuable addition to the team.

“As we look to the future, we are confident that with Sam’s extensive experience and leadership qualities, OpenBet will continue to redefine the standards in sports betting entertainment.”

Neccton deal and other M&A activity at OpenBet

The appointment comes in the wake of a series of M&A activities at OpenBet since its acquisition by Endeavor Group. Shortly before this, Scientific Games purchased player engagement technology supplier SportCast, developer of the first BetBuilder product.

In the months after the Endeavor deal, OpenBet continued its own M&A strategy with the purchase of betting technology and trading business Multi Builder.

More recently, the provider acquired responsible gambling, anti-money laundering and fraud detection technology specialist Neccton.
