Sportradar signs integrity deal with World Baseball Softball Confederation

| By Robert Fletcher
Sportradar has entered a two-year integrity partnership with the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).

Under the deal, the Sportradar Integrity Services arm of Sportradar will provide baseball and softball’s world governing body with access to its Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS) for all WBSC international competitions.

Sportradar’s UFDS analyses betting patterns for abnormalities, with any suspicious games subsequently reported to partners.

Since launching 17 years ago, Sportradar Integrity Services has detected more than 6,900 suspicious games across different sports, including 900 during 2021.

“We’re looking forward to benefiting from Sportradar’s expertise in providing bet monitoring and intelligence solutions for appropriate detection and investigation of threats to sport integrity, maintaining baseball and softball’s game unpredictability and safeguarding the international game from manipulation,” WBSC president Riccardo Fraccari said.

“Following the International Olympic Committee’s and specifically the OM Unit PMC’s (Olympic Movement Unit on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competition) leadership in the prevention of competition manipulation, we are working towards enhancing the protection of clean baseball and softball athletes with this new agreement.”
