A Bet A has announced that it is to launch fantasy football into the UK and Irish retail market for the first time with the roll out of its new ‘MegaFan Manager’ product.

Available in approximately 1,000 betting ships during its initial launch, the new service will allow punters to pick a team of 11 players for this summer’s Uefa European Championship European national team tournament.

Each player’s stake of £2 will go toward a global jackpot, with additional games available at shop level and support in-shop from printed coupons and on-screen statistics.

Customers can check on progress by visiting a participating shop or logging into their account on the MegaFan website.

The service will run through Betting Limited’s pool betting licence and utilise data from Opta Sports.

Jason Hardman, operations manager at A Bet A, said: “Daily fantasy sports games are enjoying huge success online around the world and we’re excited to now be able to deliver such a popular product into Britain’s betting shops for the first time.

“Our aim has always been to breathe new life into those shops with compelling content and we firmly believe a game like MegaFan Manager will not only interest existing customers but appeal to a new generation too.

“It is a risk-free, plug-and-play product with no fees for our existing customers, and it involves a simple integration for those using other EPOS systems should they want it.”

A Bet A said that should the initial launch be successful, the product could go live ahead of the next UK domestic club season and also expanded to online operators and other sports.
