US-based iGaming and sportsbook technology start-up Bet.Works has appointed Marc Brody, previously of SBTech and bwin.party, as senior vice-president of business development.

Brody will assume responsibility for identifying growth opportunities for the company in the US and also oversee the Bet.Works business development and account management teams.

He joins the company after having most recently worked as a gaming adviser for the SBTech US business. Brody also had a spell as senior director of sponsorship for DraftKings and held a similar role with bwin.party.

Brody's CV additionally includes spells as the head of poker at Perform Group and the executive in charge of global television production at Full Tilt Poker.

Before then, he spent six years as a producer and associate director for North American NBA basketball team the Miami Heat.

“Bet.Works is by far the most dynamic technology provider in the industry and its enterprise-grade sports betting platform is precisely what operators in the US have been seeking,” Brody said.

“The company is solely focused on the US market, which will provide our partners with a unique advantage over the current competition.”

Bet.Works CEO David Wang said the appointment will bolster the company’s wider growth plans in the US, praising Brody as a highly-regarded individual in the iGaming industry,

Wang said: “This appointment further demonstrates Bet.Works’ commitment to our partners by bringing in the best talent to support continued growth in the US.”

Earlier this month, Bet.Works also appointed Dr Laila Mintas as chair of its advisory board to support its US expansion plans. Mintas served as the deputy president of Sportradar US from August 2016 until stepping down last month.
