Online bookmaker will work with the Professional Players Federation

Betway has announced a joint venture with the Professional Players Federation (PPF) as part of an effort to promote betting integrity in British sport.

The online gambling operator will work with the PPF to produce a series of short films to highlight the importance of integrity and the dangers that gambling can present to professional sportspeople.

Based on a Q&A format, the new films focus on key issues such as betting, match fixing and the passing of inside information.

The films will also showcase ongoing efforts across both the sports and betting industries in tackling corruption. Various player associations and sports integrity experts will feature in the series.

Anthony Werkman, chief executive of Betway, said: “Our support of the PPF is an extremely important part of our wider work in the areas of sporting integrity and player education around gambling.

“Our aims dovetail with that of the PPF in that we want a clean, competitive and ultimately fun environment for our customers to test their knowledge against. To our mind these videos will help ensure that both players and the customers of Betway continue to compete and play solely for the love of the game.”

PPF chairman Brendon Batson (pictured) OBE added: “Player associations do a great job in educating players about betting integrity and these new films are designed to complement this education by giving bite size information and advice for players who may either want to learn more or seek support from their player association.

“We are grateful to Betway and our other betting integrity partners for their funding of player education in this area.”

Betway has established strong links with the world of professional sport through a number of sponsorship deals.

The operator recently struck a deal to become the training gear sponsor of Italian Serie A football club AS Roma, prior to a new ban on gambling advertising coming into force in the country.

Betway also recently agreed deals with Spanish LaLiga football club CD Leganés, as well as ESL esports competitions Intel Extreme Masters, ESL One and the CS:GO Pro League.
