Kambi nears sport betting deal with Sweden’s ATG
Kambi Group has revealed it is in advanced talks with Swedish horse racing monopoly AB Trav och Galopp (ATG) over a sports betting partnership.
The mooted agreement would see Kambi provide its sportsbook to the ATG customer base.
According to Kambi, the two companies are now in the “final stage commercial discussions” and ATG will soon commence internal product testing.
Kambi said it opted to update the market on the progress of the negotiations so as to avoid any speculation over the deal.
The potential partnership comes at a time of great change in Sweden, which will soon introduce a host of new regulation for gambling.
Among the new measures is a regulation that will enable ATG to complement its horse racing product with a full sports betting offer for the first time.
Earlier this week, Sweden’s Committee on Cultural Affairs announced its support for proposed changes to the country’s gambling laws and a final vote in the bill is expected to take place tomorrow (Thursday).
New regulations are not due to come into effect until January 1, 2019, but the licensing process will open on August 1 this year.
