Sports data provider Opta has extended its partnership with the International Cricket Council (ICC), the sport’s global governing body.

Under the new four-year deal, which runs from 2016 to 2019, Opta will serve as the official data collection and distribution partner of the ICC.

Opta will provide data for ICC events, including the ICC World Twenty20, which is currently taking place in India, as well as the men’s and women’s World Cup national team events.

Data will be made available to all ICC official digital platforms and other official partners.

“Opta is a market leader in collection and distribution of cricket data and we are happy that this deal provides ICC and its partners greater access to official data,” ICC head of media rights, broadcast and digital, Aarti Singh Dabas, said.

Ross MacEacharn, chief executive of Perform Content at Opta’s parent company Perform, added: “Opta has a proven track record in delivering fast, detailed and accurate cricket data and we are delighted to continue our relationship with the ICC.

“This partnership will enable some of cricket's most prestigious tournaments to benefit from Opta data and we look forward to working with the ICC, their partners and the global cricket media over the next four years.”
