Paddy Power Betfair has become the latest betting operator to secure a data usage licence agreement with Football DataCo.

Set up in 2001 by the professional football leagues in England and Scotland, Football DataCo commercialises official match-related data from the club competitions.

Paddy Power Betfair will now be able to use matchday data for all games in the top-tier English Premier League, as well as matches across the English Football League and Scottish Professional Football League on its digital channels and at UK and Irish retail sites.

Bet365, BetFred and William Hill are among the operators that also have a licence to use the data.

Adrian Ford, general manager of Football DataCo, said: “British football continues to be a vital component for all betting businesses, both land-based and digital.

“There is growing acceptance that Football DataCo’s market leading product is protected by IP rights and a data usage licence is required to use it, as demonstrated by this deal. Football DataCo is going from strength to strength.”
