Scientific Games and the Dutch State Lottery (Nederlandse Loterij) have agreed to expand their partnership and launch a new digital sports betting solution in the Netherlands.

The new deal will see Scientific Games supply the Lottery with its OpenSports end-to-end sports betting solution, which will be made available to Dutch players on mobile and desktop.

The Lottery, which was formed through the 2016 merger of Staatsloterij and Sichting Nationale Sporttotlisator (SNS), will also now have access to Scientific Games’ OpenTrade managed trading services for non-Dutch sports.

Scientific Games has been working with the Lottery for a number of years now, providing it with its OpenPlatform player account technology through a deal originally agreed with NYX Gaming Group, and instant win games.

“We’re excited to offer our players a seamlessly connected online sportsbook that keeps quality and stability top-of-mind,” Nederlandse Loterij’s business director for sportsbook, Sam Depoortere, said. “Expanding our partnership with Scientific Games will help us gain new players and keep our existing bettors engaged.”

Keith O'Loughlin, senior vice president of sportsbook and platforms for SG Digital, added: “We recognise the importance of transitioning from a sports technology provider to a full-service, end-to-end sportsbook partner. Teams across Scientific Games have re-engineered the full product suite by putting the player at the heart of our decision-making.

“Sports betting is currently positioned at the core of global growth for the lottery and gaming industry, and we'll be providing Nederlandse Loterij advanced innovation to fuel their ongoing success in the Netherlands.”

Nederlandse Loterij was created in 2016 through the merger of De Lotto and the Dutch State Lottery, and is under the control of the Dutch Ministry of Finance. Proceeds are dedicated to the benefit of sports and local charitable institutions.

Scientific Games provides game entertainment, technology and solutions to 150 lotteries in 50 countries around the world, including sports betting solutions to more than 30 lotteries across the US, Canada, Europe and Asia.
