The Sportech Racing and Digital division of Sportech has agreed to provide pari-mutuel betting technologies and services to Dansk Hestevæddeløb ApS (DHV), the joint operating company for horseracing and operator of all racecourses in Denmark.

The deal comes after the Danish government recently confirmed it is to liberalise horse race betting in the country, with the new laws set to come into effect from January 2018.

Under the agreement, Sportech will now provide the DHV’s nine tracks with a range of technologies and services such as a central system, which will act as the Danish national host to consolidate all betting from private betting operators.

The partnership also includes Sportech’s Quantum System pari-mutuel betting software and hosting services from Sportech’s worldwide service delivery network

In addition, the Quantum configuration will facilitate implementation of digital betting solutions by future private operators.

“We sought a technology partner with an exceptional suite of products and services, strong options for digital and self-service betting, and direct access to global commingling markets,” DHV chief executive Henrik Friis said.

“Sportech met these requirements, and their well-established track record and presence in Europe assures us that we will receive excellent support.”

Andrew Gaughan, president of Sportech Racing and Digital, added: “We at Sportech are very pleased to have been selected by Dansk Hestevæddeløb as their tote technology provider and look forward to working with them to help grow betting on horse racing under Denmark's newly liberalising horse racing environment.”
