Gambling operator BoyleSports has acquired almost the entire retail portfolio of Northern Irish bookmaker Gregory Hughes.

The deal will see BoyleSports purchase six HugesBet shops across the country, comprising four in County Tyrone and two in Armagh.

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

The purchase expands BoyleSports’ retail network in Northern Ireland to a total of 45 shops, having also acquired 33 of William Hill’s locations in the country in January this year.

“The purchase of the HughesBet chain of shops demonstrates our long-term commitment to the Northern Ireland market,” BoyleSports chief executive Conor Gray said.

“All of the stores being acquired will be rebranded as BoyleSports outlets. In line with the BoyleSports business model, all of the new shops will be upgraded to bring them up to the industry-leading standard which BoyleSports customers have come to expect and enjoy.”

It comes after BoyleSports moved into Great Britain's retail betting market for the first time in June 2019, through the acquisition of Midlands-based bookmaker Wilf Gilbert. The operator took charge of 13 Wilf Gilbert licensed betting offices across the West Midlands.
