Lottomatica suspends employees amid cheating investigation

The investigation alleges the four current employees were assisted by two former employees and some people close to them in their misconduct. IGT and Lottomatica are cooperating fully with inquiries.

IGT said it suspended the employees as soon as it became aware of the investigation.

“IGT has dedicated considerable resources to support the Judicial Authority, conduct an internal investigation and fully evaluate the situation,” the supplier said. “IGT has also taken prompt measures to thoroughly review its internal systems and processes designed to prevent criminal and fraudulent activities and further its state-of-the-art protections.

“IGT is dedicated to meeting its obligations to its regulators as well as its customers, and remains focused on ensuring its business is conducted at the highest levels of integrity.”

Yesterday, IGT released its annual sustainability report, which detailed its integrity practices. The report also claimed that the business generated $4.84bn in ‘economic value’ through its products and services in 2019 and that 68.8% of IGT’s employees were male and 31.2% female.
