ULIS welcomes Lithuanian regulator as latest member

United Lotteries for Integrity in Sports (ULIS), the organisation formerly known as the Global Lottery Monitoring System (GLMS), has added the Lithuanian Gaming Control Authority (LGCA) to its membership network.

The LGCA has worked in partnership with ULIS since May 2018 via a cooperation agreement and will now officially become an associate member and strengthen its cooperation with the organisation.

Membership will include exchange of information regarding suspicious sports and betting patterns among the wider ULIS network of partners.

“The two organisations share the same objectives, values, and commitment to tackle the phenomenon of match-fixing,” LGCA director Virginijus Dauksys said.

“The data and information we receive from ULIS helps us to look carefully into the different sport events taking place in our country and it can be used as an important element of our investigations at the national level.”

ULIS announced it was to rebrand in October last year after members unanimously approved the name change at a general meeting. The results of a survey revealed members no longer thought GLMS was an accurate representation of the organisation, as it refers strongly to monitoring services only.

The rebranding reflected several other developments including a new strategy and further focus on the services it offers beyond the initial monitoring.
