Betting technology supplier Newgioco Group has extended the reach of its service offering into southern Italy after entering into a platform partnership with a Malta-based operator.

Newgioco has not yet disclosed the identity of its new partner, but has confirmed that the operator runs a “large network of regulated locations and online gaming business” throughout the southern Italian region.

The Toronto-based supplier has said its new partner will utilise Newgioco’s ELYS betting platform. The operator in question was previously running via a licensed competitor.

The supplier expects its new operator partner to generate around $350,000 (£267,250/€309,320) in sports betting handle and a $2m online casino handle per month through the platform arrangement.

Michele Ciavarella, CEO of Newgioco, said: “Once again our team in Europe lead by Alessandro Marcelli, […] have proven the value of incorporating our ELYS betting platform by Odissea in the highly contested and vibrant Italian sports betting market.

“As a result of our recently launched Angular JavaScript website framework, we expect a rapid go-to-market turnaround with bet processing starting in May 2019.”

Newgioco has added that the agreement represents an accretive expansion of its distribution footprint in regulated stores and establishments such as bars, coffee shops, convenience stores, betting shops and other route operations throughout southern Italy and Sicily.
