Kalshi signs prediction market deals with Dodgers, 4 other MLB teams
As the final month of the Major League Baseball regular season approaches, Kalshi has inked partnerships with five clubs, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, the two-time defending World Series champions.
Kalshi, the upstart prediction markets operator, announced Tuesday that it signed exclusive, multi-year branding partnerships with the Dodgers and four others: the Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants. Notably, as it relates to the Red Sox, Kalshi does not offer sports event contracts in Massachusetts due to a lawsuit against the operator by the state attorney general. Kalshi’s sports markets are blocked pending a ruling from the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.
Three of the teams, the Dodgers, Padres and Giants, are located in California, a popular market for prediction market activity. Residents of California, the nation’s most populous state, can whet their appetite for sports trading on the markets since sports wagering is illegal in the state.
With Tuesday’s news, nearly 25% of all MLB clubs have a partnership with a prediction market operator. The announcement pads the total to seven teams across the league. When the New York Mets signed a multi-year partnership with Novig in late July, the team became the first club in league history to align with a prediction market. The partnership pre-dated Polymarket’s deal with the New York Yankees by approximately a week.
“Baseball fans have made Kalshi part of how they engage with the game. We’re excited to keep investing in them and in the sport,” Kalshi wrote in a statement on X.
New Kalshi club at Dodger Stadium
Patrons of the teams will likely notice the activations as early as Tuesday night when the Braves host the Dodgers for the first of a three-game set at Truist Park. The collaborations, according to Kalshi, will include in-stadium signage, plus social, online, radio and fan activations.
When the division leaders square off on Tuesday, Tyler Glasnow (3-0, ERA 2.72) will take the mound for the Dodgers. As of 3pm ET, the Dodgers had a 60% probability to defeat the Braves on Kalshi. The app also gave Shohei Ohtani a probability of 27% to record a home run, slightly above the 20% odds ascribed to Braves first baseman Matt Olson. There are odds of 59% for Glasnow to register at least six strikeouts.
The Dodgers, which begin a six-game road trip on Tuesday, will return home on 1 September against the St. Louis Cardinals. As part of the multi-year partnership, the Dodgers will rename the Golden Glove Bar, a venue located beneath the left field pavilion in close proximity to the Centerfield Plaza. The bar will be renamed the Kalshi 435 Club.
According to a statement from the operator, fans will also have access to Kalshi-specific offers and exclusive on-site activations throughout the season in Centerfield Plaza. Over the last year, baseball-related trading volume at Kalshi is up approximately 36x, the company said.
“The idea is that fans are already engaging with their favorite teams on Kalshi, so it only makes sense to extend that fandom to some of the most beloved baseball teams in America,” said Adam Barrick, who serves as head of sports partnerships at Kalshi.
Current World Series odds
The Dodgers entered Tuesday with overwhelming 34% odds on Kalshi to win the 2026 World Series. At those odds, a Kalshi customer who placed $100 on the trade would receive a payout of around $282. The Yankees and the Milwaukee Brewers, the next closest teams, have odds around 10% to capture the title. On Kalshi, the Yankees are 24% favourites to win the American League, ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays and the Red Sox, at 22% and 15% respectively.
As the Dodgers pursue a third straight title, Ohtani is also in pursuit of his third straight National League MVP. On Tuesday, MLB.com posted the latest results of its league MVP preview where the site polled 37 experts on the condition of anonymity. Ohtani finished second behind Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow Armstrong, who received 29 first-place votes. Armstrong also has odds of 67% on Kalshi to win MVP over Ohtani, with Alex Bregman a distant third (1%).
Prior to the regular season, Polymarket announced a partnership with MLB to become the league’s exclusive prediction market exchange partner. MLB announced the deal shortly after the league signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission on a framework for prediction markets.
Major League Baseball did not issue a statement on Tuesday regarding the Kalshi partnerships. Of the five clubs, only the Red Sox briefly mentioned the deal on social media. In response to the Kalshi announcement on X, the Red Sox posted an emoji — signaling the club’s approval.
