ARJEL issues share liquidity poker licences to Betclic, Unibet
French online regulator ARJEL has awarded shared liquidity poker licences to both SPS Betting France Limited and Betclic Enterprises Limited.
The licences will enable the companies to offer their services within the newly established shared liquidity market between France, Spain, Italy and Portugal.
SPS Betting is a subsidiary of the Kindred Group and operates the Unibet.fr site in France, while Betclic offers online sports betting, casino games and poker via its subsidiaries in the country.
In July of last year, regulators from France, Italy, Spain and Portugal signed a deal to allow operators active across more than one of the ring-fenced markets to merge their player pools.
France and Spain are already working together on the initiative, and the passing of a resolution in Portugal last month opened the door for the country to join the market.
Italy is still yet to confirm details of when it will begin its involvement.
PokerStars in January became the first operator to roll out a shared player pool between locally licensed online poker markets in France and Spain.
