Boyd Gaming has expanded its senior management team with the appointment of three new executives.

Senior vice-presidents Josh Hirsberg, Steve Thompson and Ted Bogich will now serve as executive vice-presidents of the hotel and casino group and report directly to president and chief executive, Keith Smith.

Hirsberg, who joined Boyd in 2008 as chief financial officer, treasurer and senior vice-president, will continue to oversee all of the company’s financial efforts.

Thompson, who has held various senior positions since joining the company in 1983, will retain oversight of the company's Nevada operations and also assume responsibility for several of the firm’s corporate functions.

Bogich, who joined the firm in 2004 and now serves as senior vice-president of operations, will be the senior operations executive for Boyd’s Midwest and South and Peninsula regions and also assume responsibility for the firm’s corporate marketing and design and construction functions.

“Over the last several years, Josh, Steve and Ted have all played integral roles in successfully guiding Boyd through challenging times, and returning our company to strong, sustained growth,” Smith said.

“We are pleased to recognise their contributions with these well-deserved promotions, and we look forward to further leveraging the talent and experience of these senior executives.”

Meanwhile, Boyd has announced that Robert Boughner is to retire as executive vice-president and chief business development officer of the company.

Boughner will step down at some point this summer, but continue to serve as a member of the company’s board of directors.

Since joining Boyd Gaming in July 1977, Boughner has held a number of senior management positions, including chief operating officer from 1990 to 2001.

Boughner went on to serve as president and chief executive of Borgata before moving to his current position in 2012.

Boyd executive chairman Bill Boyd said: “Bob has been an immensely important contributor to Boyd Gaming's success over the last 40 years.

“He played a key role in the growth and evolution of our company, helping guide us with his vision and leadership.

“I am deeply grateful to Bob for his extraordinary service to Boyd Gaming, and I wish him continued happiness and success in the next chapter of his life.”

Boughner added: “I'm incredibly honoured to have been a part of this great company for nearly 40 years.

“It has truly been a privilege to work alongside Bill Boyd and the entire senior leadership team, and I look forward to continuing to support our company's growth, development and success as a member of the board of directors.”
