Italian online sports betting market continues to expand
Italy has experienced further growth within its online sports betting sector after turnover climbed 44.5 per cent year-on-year in March.
According to figures released by Italian gambling news website Agimet.it, operators licensed in the country handled €478.4m ($509.4m) in sports wagers last month.
Bet365 remained the market leader with a 33 per cent share of all online sports betting in March, while Ladbrokes Coral-owned Eurobet and Sisal completed the top three operators for the month.
Agimet.it also reported that online casino revenue climbed 30.3 per cent year-on-year to €36.6m, with Lottomatica leading the way with a market share of 10.7 per cent, ahead of Sisal on 8.7 per cent and Amaya-owned PokerStars on 6.6 per cent.
Online poker tournament fees increased by 16.1 per cent to €7.4m, but cash game stakes were down 4 per cent to €6m.
Elsewhere, virtual betting jumped 45 per cent year-on-year to €135m, with online bingo revenue amounting to just under €2.5m for the month.
