North America’s National Football League (NFL) has reached a settlement with a youth charity that sued the American football league over its gambling policy.

According to USA Today, the Strikes for Kids charity launched legal action against the NFL last year after claiming it was misled and lost revenue after being forced to relocate a bowling event for children in 2015.

The event had been scheduled to feature more than 25 professional NFL players and take place at the Sunset Station hotel and casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

However, the NFL said this conflicted with its gambling policy and requested that an alternate location be found.

Strikes for Kids eventually opted for Brooklyn Bowl, a smaller venue that is not located inside a casino building, but is still part of the LINQ casino promenade near the Las Vegas Strip.

The charity took issue with the NFL clearing one casino-related location but not another, and raised concerns over consistency in the league’s gambling policy.

The trial had been due to take place on September 25 but the two parties have now opted to settle, with terms of this agreement not being disclosed.

The settlement comes shortly after the charity requested that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell testify under oath during the trial, but this was ultimately rejected by a federal judge.
