How cabinet design is shaping the modern gaming floor
For land-based operators, cabinet design plays an important role in how players engage with games on the floor. As player expectations continue to evolve, operators are looking for hardware that supports strong content, while remaining flexible and easy to manage.
COSMIC™ DUAL is the latest addition to Light & Wonder’s COSMIC™ hardware family, building on a design approach focused on performance, usability and adaptability across global markets.
The cabinet features dual 27-inch HD LCD displays with a minimal bezel, creating a more seamless visual presentation for game content. It is powered by Light & Wonder’s Onyx processor and includes a redesigned iDeck, with a larger player interface and integrated wireless charging.
Audio has also been considered as part of the overall player experience, with a soundbar and subwoofer positioned between the iDeck and main display to support game-specific sound design.
We’re seeing players gravitate toward modern cabinet designs that combine strong visuals, intuitive interfaces and comfort.
Designed with flexibility in mind
COSMIC™ DUAL has been developed to support a range of market requirements, with a shared touchscreen overlay across both displays and a modular design that allows for different configurations on the gaming floor.
The cabinet continues the COSMIC™ family’s distinctive lighting design, incorporating a fibre-optic lighting signature that is consistent across the portfolio.
Building off a common chassis allows us to streamline production while giving operators consistency across their floor.
Prioritising player comfort
While display and performance are key, player comfort remains a central focus in cabinet design.
This includes optimising screen angles, deck height and button placement, as well as allowing for player-controlled settings such as volume. The goal is to create a consistent and comfortable experience that supports longer play sessions.
Supporting operators on the floor
From an operational perspective, cabinet design also needs to support efficiency on the floor.
There are three key considerations: build quality, serviceability and modularity. Durable components help reduce maintenance requirements, while accessible internal layouts allow technicians to quickly service the machine.
Modular design also provides flexibility, enabling operators to reconfigure banks or move cabinets as floor layouts evolve.
Casino floors are constantly changing. Cabinets need to be flexible enough to move and adapt without adding complexity for operators.
Looking ahead
COSMIC™ DUAL is being introduced across EMEA in phases, with initial deployments focused on markets where Light & Wonder has an established presence and where player demand aligns with the cabinet’s features.
The cabinet is supported by a broad content library designed to take advantage of its dual-screen format.
Looking forward, Light & Wonder continues to evaluate new display technologies and ways to enhance how content is presented on casino floors.
