Iowa introduces online registration for sports betting

Sports bettors in Iowa are now able to register online, rather than only in person, as of 1 January.

Sports betting – both retail and online – was legalised in Iowa in August 2019. However, online customers were required to create their account in person at a casino in the state for the first 18 months after the bill passed.

With that period expiring at the start of 2021, players may now register for accounts online.

Both William Hill and newly-listed Rush Street Interactive (RSI) have already confirmed that they have begun onboarding new customers remotely.
