Ex-Entain chief Gavin Isaacs joins GLI board in advisory role

On Monday, Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) announced the appointment of industry veteran Gavin Isaacs to its board in an advisory capacity. The move is pending regulatory review and approval.

Isaacs, a prominent figure with over 25 years of experience in gaming, iGaming, sports betting and lotteries, will join GLI alongside representatives from private equity firm CVC Capital Partners. 

GLI has described the role as advisory and has not disclosed an effective start date, remuneration, or any equity arrangements connected to Isaacs’ appointment.

A colourful past

Throughout his extensive career, Isaacs has held senior executive and board positions and played key roles in mergers and acquisitions valued at over $10 billion. His past roles have ranged from a seat at the board of directors at Galaxy Gaming to a stint as CEO of Entain which lasted five months.

He was inducted into the American Gaming Association Hall of Fame in 2022 in recognition of his contributions to the sector.

Expressing enthusiasm about his new role, Isaacs stated: “I am excited to join the board of GLI as it embarks on its next stage of growth. I look forward to working with James Maida and CVC as we build upon the incredible business built by James (GLI CEO) and his team over the past 37 years.”

The long-term lens

The announcement follows GLI’s investment deal with CVC Capital Partners, which was revealed in June, where CVC’s Strategic Opportunities division invested in GLI and associated entities to support the company’s global expansion and long-term strategy. 

Maida highlighted Isaacs’ extensive industry experience as a strong match for GLI’s growth ambitions. He said: “I am thrilled that Gavin is joining the GLI board… Gavin’s decades of experience, vision and history of innovation make him a perfect partner as we move forward.”
