Romania adds a further 20 sites to online blacklist

Romania’s National Gambling Office (ONJN) has added 20 new sites, including one from Bet365, to its “blacklist” of unauthorised online gaming sites, which must be blocked by internet service providers (ISPs) in the country.

Romania’s National Gambling Office (ONJN) has added 20 new sites, including one from Bet365, to its “blacklist” of unauthorised online gaming sites, which must be blocked by internet service providers (ISPs) in the country.

The blocked sites include 488365.com, a domain that links to Bet365, as well as Megapari.com.

The ONJN launched its blacklist in 2015 ahead of the country opening its regulated online gambling market in 2016. In October 2015, Bet365’s .com site was blocked and the operator’s licence withdrawn.

Also on the list published yesterday (12 August) are Luckycasino, Megaslot, Slothunter, Crazy Fox and Gambola’s dot.com sites, as well as two sites from Ego Casino. Also blocked are Fivecasino.net, 22-bet.net, 1xslot41623.com and Casinobuck.com.

All 1,184 ISPs operating in Romania must block each site on the list within 48 hours of receiving notification from the ONJN.

Users in Romania attempting to visit the site will be redirected to a message that reads, “Your access to this site has been restricted by the National Gambling Office” and outlines the ONJN’s powers to create such a blacklist.

On 11 May, the ONJN added 41 new sites to the blacklist, before blocking a further 16 two weeks later.
